LONELINESS - Loneliness construct, UCLA 3-item Col 134 Usage Notes: Computed from Form 151B, questions 26.1-26.3. Source: A Short Scale for Measuring Loneliness in Large Surveys: Results From Two Population-Based Studies (Hughes, 2004). Three-item scale measuring three dimensions of loneliness: relational connectedness, social connectedness, and self-perceived isolation. Responses to the three items are summed. The score ranges from 3 to 9, where a higher score indicates greater loneliness. Scores of 3-5 suggest no or low loneliness, while scores of 6-9 suggest a higher degree of loneliness.
