ID - WHI Participant Common ID Col 1
COREDAYS - Core Days since randomization/enrollment Col 2 Number of days from randomization/enrollment to date of blood draw.
COREVTYP - Visit Type Col 3
COREVY - Visit year Col 4 Visit year for which the draw used for core analytes was collected.
COREVCLO - Closest to visit within visit type and year Col 5 For data with the same visit type and year, indicates the data closest to that visit's target date. Valid for data entered with an annual or semi-annual visit type. Usage Notes: See data preparation document.
COREEXPC - Expected for visit Col 6 This data was expected for this visit. Core Analytes were expected of CT participants in the blood subsample at baseline and at years 1, 3, and 6. Core Analytes were expected for OS participants in the OS Measurement Precision Study (OS-MPS) at baseline and at a non-routine visit between 1 and 180 days after enrollment. Usage Notes: This includes forms from the subsample of OS participants at year 6 that were enrolled in the three clinical centers participating in the WHI Osteoporosis sub study, as height and weight were collected on OS participants at year 6 by design; see table 16.1; on page 16-18b of volume 2.
DRAWTIME - Draw time Col 7 Time blood was drawn in military time. Format HH24:MI (e.g. 13:20).
CFUGTIME - Centrifuge time Col 8 Time that centrifuging of blood began in military time. Format HH24:MI (e.g. 13:20).
VIALTIME - Cryovial time Col 9 Time blood placed into cryovials in military time. Format HH24:MI (e.g. 13:20).
FREZTIME - Freeze time Col 10 Time cryovials placed in freezer in military time. Format HH24:MI (e.g. 13:20).
FASTHRS - Fasting hours Col 11 Number of hours since had anything to eat or drink besides water before blood draw.
VIGACT - Vigorous activity in last 8 hours Col 12 Engaged in vigorous physical activity in last eight hours before blood draw.
ANTIINFL - Anti-inflammatory use in last 48 hours Col 13 Took aspirin or anti-inflammatory agents in last 48 hours before blood draw.
LIPEMIC - Serum is lipemic Col 14 For HRT and HRT + DM screening visit and annual visits. Serum is lipemic.
COREACAR - Core Alpha-Carotene (ug/ml) Col 15
COREATOC - Core Alpha-Tocopherol (ug/ml) Col 16
COREBCAR - Core Beta-Carotene (ug/ml) Col 17
COREBCXA - Core Beta-Cryptoxanthine (ug/ml) Col 18
COREF7AG - Core Factor VII Antigen, activity (%) Col 19
COREF7C - Core Factor VII concentration (%) Col 20
COREFIBR - Core Fibrinogen (mg/dl) Col 21
COREGLUC - Core Glucose (Mg/dl) Col 22
COREGTOC - Core Gamma-Tocopherol (ug/ml) Col 23
COREHDL2 - Core High-Density Lipoprotein-2 (Mg/dl) Col 24
COREHDL3 - Core High-Density Lipoprotein-3 (Mg/dl) Col 25
COREHDLC - Core HDL Cholesterol (Mg/dl) Col 26 High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol
COREINSU - Core Insulin (uIU/ml) (RIA method) Col 27 Usage Notes: The insulin test for the core analytes changed. The majority of insulin testing used the RIA method. Later testing, however, used an automated ES300 method. Therefore, insulin results are split into two separate variables, dependent on the method used, RIA or ES300. The ES300 and RIA methods gave comparable results at insulin levels that WHI participants were likely to have, but the correlation between the ES300 and RIA methods was less good when insulin values exceeded 60 uIU/ml.
COREINSU2 - Core Insulin (uIU/ml) (automated ES300 method) Col 28 Usage Notes: The insulin test for the core analytes changed.
CORELDLC - Core LDL Cholesterol (Mg/dl) Col 29 Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol
CORELPA - Core Apolipoprotein(a) (Mg/dl) Col 30
