I chose to answer a newspaper request re: women's health study. I came to UC Davis and fortuitious for me, was chosen for the dietary study. This was interesting for me because I've always chosen fresh vegetables and whole wheat breads and home cooking but I've never lost weight. On this program I went from 173 pounds to 140 pounds. My sins are sweets, cake, donuts, homemade goodies and store-bought. I' ve cut these down considerably, especially when I found out a little piece of cheesecake is 37 grams of fat! Lincoln, CA will soon be having "The Cheesecake Factory." How about that? I've learned so much more about healthy food choices my problem still is the portions. I've tried to get my family involved, they all live away from home. My daughter, who also is overweight, has not followed much of my coaching. My son, also overweight, is attempting to cut down on fats; my other two children sort of attain healthy eating habits. I think if I could get accross to my family and friends benefits of healthy foods and preparation, it would be great. The lovely olive oil may be low cholesterol but is so flavorfull in cooking that it is difficult not to over-indulge.
