9 square block pattern
Quilting, that word brings warm memories to my mind. Although, I didn't actively participate my grandmother, my mother and my mother's four sisters spent a lot of time and conversation around the topic of quilting. One of my fondest recollections is the 1944 Christmas that I received a handmade large double bed size quilt from my maternal grandmother. I still have it! I have come from a family of many strong active females. I am the mother of two daughters and have two granddaughters which is part of the reason for a continued interest in women's health issues. There have been a great many extra rewards in being part of WHI such as the fellowship with an outstanding group of women, the expertise of our leaders, opportunities to participate in other events and conferences and to be a proud part of important research. This latest quilting block project has once again been a chance to interact with family, friends and other WHI members. My 9 square floral and corresponding color squares denotes the solid feeling and beauty I feel as a woman. Thank you for the enhancement to this feeling that belonging to WHI has provided.
