To those in charge of the Women's Health Study:
I have committed to the study because I think it's worthwhile research program which will result in conclusions that will be beneficial to my daughters, granddaughters, and women of the world in the years to come.
I choose the material for my square from a white pillowcase and the shamrock was developed from the shoulder pads of an old tee shirt. As a young girl, I attended a two-room, two-teacher grammar school in Ireland where my mother taught infants through 3rd grade. When the "Master" (principal) taught science to the boys, my mother taught sewing, knitting, etc. to the girls, and while I'm far from a designer, this talent has come in handy while raising a family in the darn-your-own socks and take up a hem era.
I would like the "world" to know that while there are committed participants in the study, the real heroes are those who deal with "us"; doctors/nurse practitioners who conduct examinations, technicians who draw blood, give EKG's and the guys and gals who diligently input all the data, and never forget to call to remind us of our appointments. I want to say "a job well done by you all and thank you for your patience, kindness along with the juice and cookies."
It's my 6th year in the study and it's been a privilege and a pleasure.
Sincerely,
MO
