quilt block

I have been in the W.H.I. Program for several years... I feel with such little effort on my part that perhaps I will be helping some one in the future. It was always a pleasure to go to the office...everyone on the staff was always so cheerful and supportive. I was on the hormone program, but after I started taking coumadin I was placed on the calcium program.

I have been a volunteer for over thirty years...we do not get paid in money...but in a good feeling to have helped some one along the way.

The year 2000 was a VERY BAD year! The first of March I had a massive stroke and a few months later a broken lumbar spine, then a broken hard contact lens in my eye and major surgery...all with a four-month period.

I had to leave Chicago, but the WHI staff was kind enough to keep me in the program! I will soon be eighty-four...and I now volunteer at Habitat for Humanity (not with a hammer, but in the office).

I would like to dedicate my quilt block to my daughter, Jeanie and her husband, Tom, in appreciation for all the sacrifices they had made for me since 2000!

I am proud to be on the program!
