1. What does this new information mean for me?
Answer: This information does not affect any other WHI study component. All other WHI Programs are continuing as before. Therefore:
- If you are in the Calcium and Vitamin D Program, please continue to take your study pills as you have in the past.
- If you are in the Dietary Change Group of the Dietary Program, please continue to come for your group sessions and to follow the eating guidelines as before.
- If you are in the Usual Diet Group of the Dietary Program, please continue to follow your usual diet.
- If you are in the Observational Study, please continue to return the health update forms you receive in the mail.
We will notify you directly if there are important findings in the future.
The WHI continues as a landmark study that is answering critical questions on women’s health that no other study is prepared to address. Your continued participation is vital to gaining those answers. If you have additional questions about hormones and women’s health in general, please contact your personal health care provider. We can give you materials about these findings to take your provider, if you wish.
